![]() Cartographic Metadata Librarian Stanford University This is a 3-year fixed term position. The position is dual posted at Librarian 2 and 3. Stanford Libraries (SL) is seeking a full-time Cartographic Metadata Librarian to work directly with paper and digital historical and antiquarian maps held primarily in collections at the David Rumsey Map Center (DRMC). The goal of this position is to enable discovery and use of these materials across a variety of platforms including the library catalog, geospatial discovery environments, exhibits, and interactive indexes. Regular tasks will include providing focused cataloging services based on specialized knowledge of metadata standards. Collections including those in French, Dutch, German, Latin, Spanish and Turkish will need to be processed. The person in this position will also assist library patrons (faculty, students, researchers, and other library users) with identifying and locating sources of information based upon the work done to surface materials through the library's discovery platforms. The position is based in the David Rumsey Map Center and reports to the Head and Curator of the Center. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education & Experience: Advanced Degree in Library Science or a relevant academic discipline with demonstrated understanding of academic libraries or a combination of education and relevant experience. Two or more years of relevant experience in a library setting or a combination of education and relevant experience required at the Librarian 1 level; three or more years of relevant experience in a library setting or a combination of education and relevant experience required at the Librarian 2 level.
