Two Graduate Assistantships in Weed Science and Cotton Agronomy

Job responsibilities, PhD assistantship The successful candidate will have the opportunity to design and conduct greenhouse and field research studies in the following areas: 1) evaluation of dicamba off-target movement in large-scale field trials and low tunnel trials; 2) remote sensing in row crops to assist crop management; 3) herbicide-resistant Palmer amaranth control in peanut with alternative strategies, 4) weed control in organic vegetable production, etc. This candidate is expected to conduct greenhouse and field experiments to collect data, perform data analysis, prepare reports independently to funding agencies and collaborators, present research results in field days, extension meetings, regional and national professional conferences, and prepare manuscripts for publications. In addition, the incumbent will share the responsibility to supervise undergraduate student workers, manage various experimental equipment and provide technical assistance to other weed science studies. Salary and Benefit: $22,000-$27,000 (with full tuition waiver and field travel reimbursement). Student health insurance is available. Job responsibilities, MS assistantship The successful candidate will have the opportunity to conduct research studies with a focus on the management of 2,4-D injured cotton, and other studies pertinent to cotton production and variety testing. The student is expected to conduct greenhouse and field experiments to collect data, perform data analysis, prepare reports independently to funding agencies and collaborators, present research results in field days, extension meetings, regional and national professional conferences, and prepare manuscripts for publications. Salary and Benefit: $20,000-22,000 (with full tuition waiver and field travel reimbursement). Student health insurance is available.
