Essential Job Duties:
The selected candidate will… Develop geospatial methods and applications related to infrastructure projects such as transportation and energy. Develop new datasets combining multiple datasets such as land use, parcel and demographics. Develop geospatial tools specific to improve stakeholder outreach processes. Apply network analysis and geofencing to understand the relationship between individuals and specific project locations for the purpose of creating an effective public outreach process. The selected candidate will also be helping transfer the know-how and tools to research partners.
Occasional out of town travel will be needed (Once every three month for few days)
Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., M.D., D.V.M., Sc.D.) in appropriate field awarded no more than five (5) years from initial date of postdoctoral appointment.
Knowledge of desktop, web and/or mobile geospatial application development using ESRI or open source platform. Programming knowledge in Python. Experience in performing spatial analysis including network analysis. Grant/academic article writing ability and track record. Demonstrated track record of managing multiple projects with on time deliverables.
Experience with ArcPy package and ArcGIS Desktop/ArcGIS Pro SDK for Python/.NET. Experience in performing analysis using R. Familiarity with programming using C#. Knowledge in remote sensing classification techniques to create land-cover/land-use maps and performing accuracy assessment. Familiarity with social media outreach/advertising systems and system APIs for creating location specific outreach campaign. Understanding of location based social media data analysis. Familiarity with applying geo-fencing for analysis and targeted public outreach. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Interest in academic publishing and grant writing. Ability to self-motivate to work independently and also as a part of a team on multiple research projects and teams simultaneously. Experience with ArcPy ArcGIS API for Python.
