Budget Title: Postdoctoral Associate (SL-1)
Salary: $47,476 (Full-time, Temporary), this position is for one year with the potential for renewal up to three years.
Harpur College at Binghamton University invites applications for an immediate postï¿½doctoral research associate position to conduct research and pursue interdisciplinary and collaborative grant opportunities specializing in human and natural system interactions. The position will report to the Associate Dean for Research and Programs in Harpur College. The applicant's area of specialization is open, but the successful applicant must have domain specialization in conceptual models and methods that bridge trans- and inter-disciplinary research across social and natural sciences. In addition to participating in collaborative research efforts, primary duties include identifying, facilitating, writing, reviewing and editing grant proposals to external sponsors to establish and support Harpur College's core research facilities, interdisciplinary research efforts, and doctoral funding.
Participate as an active member in collaborative research projects in the area of coupled natural and human systems
Identify, facilitate, write, review and edit proposals to external sponsors to establish and support Harpur College's core research facilities, interdisciplinary research efforts, and doctoral funding
Coordinate meetings, grant-writing groups, and seminars
Monitor funding opportunities (federal, state and foundation) in specific research domains; coordinate and share information with potential collaborators
Develop portfolio of technical writing and other materials for use in funding proposals related to human-natural system interactions
Establish faculty working groups to develop inter- and trans-disciplinary research proposal efforts
Collaborate with staff in the Office of Strategic Research Initiatives in the Division of Research to organize workshops, meetings, and other research support initiatives as needed
Duties as required for Harpur College Dean's office as directed by the Associate Dean for Research and Programs

Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. in ecology, anthropology, environmental science, geology, earth sciences, biology, geography, or a related discipline. We are particularly interested in individuals who bring interdisciplinary approaches to issues involving natural and human systems, including the access of human communities to critical resources in a changing world. The candidate must have a strong scientific publication record, experience working with teams, and a background in developing proposals for federal grants. The candidate should be self-motivated, productive, and have strong verbal and written communication skills in English. We are seeking a collaborative, dynamic, and innovative scholar with a commitment to high-quality, rigorous, research in a diverse educational environment.
Experience in data science, geospatial analyses, and large-scale spatial, quantitative modeling is preferred along with a background that includes integrating research into curriculum, community-engaged learning, and working with stakeholder communities.
