Since its founding in 1765 the School has been a strong presence in the community and prides itself on educating the leaders of tomorrow in patient care, biomedical research, and medical education. http://www.med.upenn.edu/Job Description The Data Analyst C will be responsible for data management and analysis of several studies within the Department of Emergency Medicine Center for Emergency Care Policy and Research (CECPR). The primary study within this center is SPARROw (Studying the Philadelphia Resilience Project as a Response to Overdose), a new CDC funded R01 grant to evaluate the impact of two City of Philadelphia initiatives to combat the opioid epidemic in Kensington: an Alternate Response Unit (AR2) and blight remediation. In addition to the SPARROw project, the Data Analyst B will work on a variety of other research projects within CECPR, including projects related to neighborhood factors, health and safety. The Data Analyst C will be responsible for coordinating data management between the University of Pennsylvania and several City of Philadelphia agencies, including the Department of Public Health, the Philadelphia Fire Department (PFD; specifically, Emergency Medical Services (EMS)), the Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services, and the Managing Directors Office. Data management responsibilities will include gathering data from these city partners, linking data across agencies, and cleaning the data. Additionally, the position will involve occasional advising of the PFD on data management strategies to maximize data usefulness. The Data Analyst C position will be responsible for performing all data analysis for the study, including geospatial data processing and analysis, descriptive data analysis, and complex statistical models using regression and other techniques, under the direction of the study PIs and biostatistician. It is expected that the analyst will be experienced with both GIS analytic skills and complex statistical modeling using a combination of R, STATA, SAS, and/or ArcGIS. The Data Analyst C position must have experience with large and complex administrative data sets, such as EMS data, and/or insurance claims data, and experience with datasets with a geospatial aspect, such as crime data or GPS data. They must have the ability to import/export data into or from various formats using standard statistical software. Additionally, excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills are essential, as well as strong organizational and documentation skills, to work on multiple projects effectively and meet deadlines. The successful applicant will join a vibrant collaborative research environment and will work closely with investigators in the Emergency Medicine Department. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum BA and 2 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Masters degree preferred.
