Open Tenure-Track Faculty Position Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering ElectroScience Laboratory
The Ohio State University and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering invite applications for a tenure track faculty position in applied electromagnetics to support priorities of the ElectroScience Laboratory (ESL), a major center of excellence in the College of Engineering. We are especially interested in applicants with research interests in photonics, bio-electromagnetics, THz and millimeter-wave circuits, data analytics and machine learning in electromagnetics, mixed-signal microelectronics, radio frequency systems (radar, communications, and navigation), remote sensing, antennas and propagation, and quantum technologies. While the search is focused on assistant professor positions, outstanding candidates at the associate level will also be considered.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in electrical engineering or a related field and outstanding academic credentials. Successful candidates are expected to develop a vigorous externally funded research program, show excellence and leadership in academic and scholarly activities, and demonstrate outstanding teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The ElectroScience Laboratory
Established in 1942, ESL is a distinctive multidisciplinary research center where world-class faculty and research scientists lead projects that provide state-of-the-art exploration and superior training for graduate and undergraduate students engaged in preeminent electromagnetics and RF technologies. Specific fields of research include:
Mixed-Signal and Assured Microelectronics
Millimeter-waves and THz circuits
Photonic Components and Systems
Remote Sensing and Spectroscopy
Radar and Communications Systems
Adaptive Antennas and Signal Processing
A variety of emerging areas are also being pursued, such as those related to:
ESL collaborates with other laboratories and centers across our campus, such as Nanotech West and the Institute for Materials Research, working with microfabrication and solid state materials.
In addition to our indoor anechoic chamber RF measurement facility, we have a complete complement of electromagnetic test facilities used by our team of researchers. We offer government and industry sponsors an environment for both fundamental and engineering system research to solve the most demanding real-world challenges.
Fourteen faculty, seven research scientists and more than 90 graduate and undergraduate students conduct world-class research at ESL. ESL has awarded more than 300 doctoral and 500 master's degrees to students who have gone on to successful careers in government, industry, and academia.
Requires travel, working evenings and weekends as necessary.
