The Geological Engineering program at the Missouri University of Science and Technology seeks a post-doctoral researcher with expertise in the application of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) to soil characterization and hydrology. The candidate will provide support for research linking proximal site characterization methods with data acquired using USA. Tasks involved include:
Acquire and process varying types of UAS data
Use machine learning to correlate UAS, proximal, and remote sensing data sets
Apply numerical models for vadose zone hydrology
Train graduate students
Contribute to publications and proposals preparation.
The initial appointment is for one year, renewable for additional years contingent upon satisfactory performance, mutual agreement, and viability of unds. The position includes a full benefits package.

Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. in remote sensing, hydrology, geophysics, geological engineering, or a related field. Candidates must have a strong background in data processing and machine learning. The selected candidate will work as a member of a team, but the ability to work independently is essential and strong motivation for publishing is required.
