The Department of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning at Tufts University is searching for a part?time lecturer to teach graduate-level Remote Sensing in Spring 2020, to be taught on Tuesdays 4:30-5:45pm and Thursdays 4:30-7:15pm (includes a lab session).
Remote Sensing will introduce students to the use of satellite imagery and other remotely sensed data for urban and environmental analysis. The course will emphasize practical applications of remote sensing for understanding human-environment dynamics. Topics will include the workflow of processing sensing data for environmental analysis, starting with data acquisition and moving on to image georeferencing, image enhancement and filtering, image classification and basic image analysis. Assignments will apply the concepts covered in lectures, and a term project in each student’s fields of interest is expected.
Candidates should have an MS or PhD in GIS or geography, or an advanced degree and experience teaching and/or applying Remote Sensing. Candidates must show evidence of successful teaching in remote sensing or closely related areas such as GIS.
