The VDC/BIM Senior Manager would be responsible for the oversight of all MPA VDC/BIM Activities including standards, updates as needed and enforcing these standards throughout the contract/construction elements of new vertical construction projects for all Massport properties. Other responsibilities include direct contact and coordination with the design teams and prime/trade contractors to ensure MPA’s needs with respect to BIM and Virtual Design and Construction are met. This person would enforce the QA/QC standards to determine whether deliverables meet or do not meet the required BIM Standards and ensure that any deliverables that are not in compliance are ultimately corrected and redelivered to Massport.
==================================================================The position will report directly to the Design Technologies Integration Group (DTIG) Program Manager and have at least one staff person in DTIG report directly to him/her. The VDC/BIM Senior Manager would also be responsible for setting up a model library that stores and organizes BIM for future use in design or other geospatial related projects. For existing facilities the VDC/BIM Senior Manager will oversee scan to BIM project work as well. These BIM and scan to BIM models will be part of the BIM library and used for future preliminary design and 3D campus modeling.
This person must have extensive experience with BIM software products such as Revit, BIM 360, Navisworks, etc. and also understand the business concepts behind the utilization of BIM in an organization like Massport. Working with the Capital Programs and Design Technologies Integration team this person will help incorporate BIM into MPA’s business processes, help with technical challenges related to model maintenance, integration with other systems, etc.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB:
Development and management of program level technology policies and procedures.
Developing the program level BIM requirements including 4D and 5D components
Develop a program including setting BIM plan goals, a management plan, protocols, standards, etc.
Assisting in the utilization of BIM as a part of design reviews
Direct experience in enhancing an existing BIM program in an environment where there is existing BIM history or expertise
Demonstrate how BIM supports Asset Management and implement a program to fulfil MPA’s requirements
Researching and standardizing VDC/BIM workflows across design, construction and Asset Management practice as well as organizing and communicating BIM technical information to senior staff
Lead technology VDC activities and manage initiatives, including emerging technology implementations
Work with Project Managers and Design Leaders to establish the VDC and Lean processes for inclusion in the Project Execution Plan
Work with IT and project staff to ensure functional and efficient hardware and software setups for staff, and at all MPA facilities
VDC/BIM Senior Manager Required Skills and Experience:
Program Level BIM lead experience required
Aviation specific project/ program experience preferred
Experience writing BIM standards and guidelines
Must have a minimum of 5 years' VDC experience leveraging and managing technology in facility and infrastructure design and construction
Previous BIM integration with 4D, 5D and 6D desired
Ability to collaborate with and motivate established professionals, external partners, and direct reports
Extensive capabilities with MSOffice, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
Must have extensive knowledge of the nuances, features, functions, and limitations of Autodesk BIM Platforms, including experience with complex workflows involving these platforms
Must have worked with BIM 360 as a collaboration platform for large design/construction projects. Managing multiple projects utilizing solutions such as BIM 360 and other relevant tools such as Bluebeam (or similar) a plus.
Knowledge of Design-Bid-Build, Construction Manager at Risk, Design/Build, and other modern contractual delivery methods
Understands project workflows from design, estimation, construction administration and coordination, and fabrication
Knowledge of other spatial data concepts including GIS and 2D CAD
Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management
Must have a minimum of four (4) years of experience in building design and construction or experience implementing design and construction information technologies. Ability to manage staff and multiple projects. Presentation and communication skills will be an important requirement of this position. Must have experience with software applications related to the BIM realm of knowledge and proficiency including: Autodesk AutoCAD, Revit Architecture/MEP/Structure, and Navisworks. Knowledge and experience with BIM 360 a plus.
Extensive knowledge of features, functions and limitations of Revit, Navisworks, BIM360 and SketchUp and BlueBeam. Experience of other graphics applications and/or geometric modeling tools is recommended. Knowledge of Solibri Model Checker is a plus.

Knowledge of the Massachusetts public bidding and construction process.

Ability to pass a Massport background check and obtain a Massport Security Badge.
Current and valid driver’s license.
Ability to pass airfield driving test and obtain Aerodrome Ramp, Apron and Airfield License.
Ability to pass a Massport controlled substances test.
WORK SCHEDULE: Ability to work 37.5-hour workweek and ability to meet fluctuating workload demands as necessary.
