Data Analytics, Database Administration, GEOINT Analyst
The Data Science Intern will be responsible for assisting in the discovery, downloading, documenting, cleaning, and delivery of novel data sets of interest to the Research Department, e.g. government weather, satellite and other geospatial data. The internship will expose the individual to areas such as, but not limited to:
Data Discovery, sourcing novel datasets with sufficient history for research and ongoing availability, interacting with the scientific community and government agencies
Downloading, documenting and curating datasets
Developing or identifying tools, where necessary, to clean, consume, and visualize data in Python and MATLAB
Working closely with researchers to incorporate data into trading strategies
Candidates must meet the following required qualifications:
Currently enrolled undergraduate\graduate student, preferably focused on obtaining a degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Natural Science.
Experience programming in Python (academic experience is acceptable).
Innate curiosity with a passion for applying technology in problem solving.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ideal candidates will also the following qualifications:
Experience programming in MATLAB.
Familiarity with geospatial data tools (ArcGIS etc.).
Experience working with large data sets.
Knowledge of modern software development practices.
