Job Summary Forum Analytics, a CBRE Company, is looking for an experienced and talented software developer to serve as a Software Engineer at our River North offices in Chicago, IL. In your role as a Software Engineer, you will develop a variety of applications to serve our Fortune 500 client companies. You will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer of our firm.

The Software Engineer position will involve:
Designing, implementing and testing software running on various platforms
Software deployment and troubleshooting activities
Performing maintenance activities for products already in production in addition to new product software design
Analyzing and benchmarking performance of web and geospatial services
As a Software Engineer, you will work on a small team of talented developers from top schools and oversee development of a broad range of applications to provide our clients with mapping solutions powered by modeling and analytics. In your role as a Software Engineer, you will be writing source code in addition to your other duties.
Participating in requirements collection and analysis as part of defining and implementing new features
Participating in product definition activities including feature analysis and system tradeoffs
Performing other software design duties as necessary
Job Requirements/Qualifications: As a Software Engineer, you must be highly detail-oriented and organized with solid leadership skills and the ability to work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision. You must also have proven requirements-analysis and problem-solving abilities as well as strong debugging and troubleshooting skills. It is also important for your role as a Software Engineer that you demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work with a team in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
Specific qualifications for the Software Engineer position include:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
Typically requires 2 - 3 years of relevant work experience
Proven experience designing, building and supporting Java-based, database-backed web applications
Knowledge of good software architecture, design and development practices, and the ability to apply these practices in daily activities - and break them when necessary
Ability to rapidly prototype web and enterprise applications in order to showcase new ideas
Willingness to work long hours
Other preferred qualifications include:
Experience with web application frameworks such as Struts, AngularJS or ReactJS
Experience with Linux OS
Familiarity with security and networking best practices
In-depth knowledge of J2EE web services
