Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Business Intelligence Developer for Enterprise Application Services (EAS) in the Office of Information Technology. Reporting to the associate director, the incumbent in this position works closely with stakeholders to discuss organizational needs and gather dashboard requirements in this hands-on, technical role. The Business Intelligence Developer plays key role in the architecture, delivery and governance of reporting and data delivery.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
Designs, develops, and implements Tableau-based solutions to address business questions and improve business outcomes.
Partners with various IT personnel and stakeholders in identifying required data elements.
Evangelizes business intelligence reporting and Tableau products to foster user adoption through demos, educational documentation, etc.
Provide support as a BI and Tableau subject matter expert and are responsible for ensuring that Rutgers creates and adheres to business intelligence best practices and principles.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience
Four (4) years of experience as a Tableau developer
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of best practices in data visualization and Business Intelligence, including but not limited to cutting-edge software features and capabilities of Tableau version 9.x or 10.x
Extensive experience developing visualizations with Tableau version 9.x or 10.x and deploying those visualizations to Tableau Server
Experience using Tableau Server including troubleshooting Tableau Server issues and explaining Tableau Server functionality to business users
Experience developing content for and delivering training to others on the use of Tableau or a similar Business Intelligence software
Experience with ETL tools or performing ETL processes
Strong aptitude for enhancing and automating queries from data sources such as relational databases and flat files
Experience analyzing data from large datasets, using geospatial and/or statistical analysis tools
Experience working with end users to troubleshoot problems with both Tableau Desktop and Server
Extensive experience developing and delivering Tableau training, managing and tracking end user requests and troubleshooting Tableau issues
Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work with business customers, and technical teams
Tableau and ETL tools.
