The ideal candidate will have an MS/MA in a geospatially-related field,with a strong background in one or more of the following areas: GIS softwaredevelopment, spatial statistics, cartography and visualization, remote sensing,and geospatial database administration.
Experience with Coding systems, especially Python, is necessary.
BS/BA level applicants with requisite professional experience may alsoapply.
About the Work Unit: The Vanderbilt Initiative for Interdisciplinary Geospatial Research (VIIGR) islooking to hire a full-time geospatial research analyst. The researchanalyst will work on diverse research projects including, but not limited to,areas in public health, epidemiology, educational policy, earth andenvironmental science, environmental justice, civil engineering, andanthropology.
Act as a consultant for developing and aiding in the execution of geospatial research projects
Work directly with faculty in formulating appropriate geospatial methodology and aid in the execution of projects
Work extensively with geospatial and remote sensing software, including ArcGIS, QGIS, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, GRASS, ENVI, photogrammetric software, including Agisoft Photoscan
Manage the Spatial Analysis Research Laboratory equipment including hardware and software for workstations, laboratory server, plotter printer, and field equipment
Act as the basic server administrator and consultant for all laboratory issues, upgrades, equipment, etc.
Perform and maintain basic accounting for the laboratory
Bachelor's degree in a geospatially-related field is required.
Previous experience is preferred.
Master's degree in a geospatially-related field is preferred.
