Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) provides the educational outreach functions for Cornell University's role as New York State's Land Grant University. Programmatically, Cornell Cooperative Extension connects the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) and the College of Human Ecology (CHE) with 55 off-campus Associations, Integrated Pest Management, New York State Sea Grant, Area Specialists, and CCE New York City.
Provide commercial crop and vegetable growers, consultants and industry representatives with the knowledge and educational resources necessary to advance precision agriculture and new technology applications to production and management practices that will sustain and enhance the profitability of the field crops and vegetable industries in Western New York. The Precision Agriculture Specialist will apply cutting-edge technologies, which may include sensors, computer vision, robotic automation and geographic information systems (GIS) and Global Positioning System (GPS) to agricultural production or management activities. They will use computers to develop and analyze maps or remote sensing images to compare physical topography with data on soils, fertilizer, pests, or weather. They will test and demonstrate in the field the uses and applications of cutting edge sensing, mapping and variable rate technologies with automatic tractor guidance systems, variable rate chemical input applicators, mechanical harvesting, surveying equipment, and computer mapping software.

This position is full-time and will be located in Western New York. This is a three-year appointment with possible extension depending on funding and performance.
