The University of Washington seeks candidates for an assistant or associate professor position with research expertise applying modern geospatial science techniques (e.g., InSAR, LiDAR, Structure from Motion, GIS, remote sensing, photogrammetry, and advanced image processing) to Civil Engineering problems (natural hazards engineering, water resources, urban infrastructure, geotechnical engineering, coastal engineering, and transportation engineering).
Candidates are expected to make use of the NHERI RAPID facility at the UW, an NSF supported shared use equipment site that houses state-of-the-art equipment for natural disaster reconnaissance including many geomatics tools. The successful candidate would be expected to collaborate with active researchers across the range of UW Civil Engineering, as well as in other departments across the university (e.g., Earth and Space Sciences, Computer Science and Engineering, the School of Environmental and Forestry Sciences, Aeronautics and Astronautics and the Applied Physics Laboratory). Numerous opportunities exist for fruitful collaborations in natural hazards, water resources, transportation, image processing, and Big Data, among many others.
Candidates at the rank of Assistant Professor are strongly encouraged, but those with an established reputation as a leader in their field will also be considered at the rank of Associate Professor.
