The Connecticut Transportation Institute (CTI) at the University of Connecticut operates within the School of Engineering. CTI’s mission is to conduct integrated multidisciplinary research, education and related services that promote safety and efficiency in multi-modal passenger and freight transportation systems and, in turn, enhance livable communities, sustainable economies and the environment. The current research and educational projects at CTI are funded by a diverse set of agencies including Connecticut Department of Transportation, CT Transit, National Science Foundation (NSF), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the New England University Transportation Center (NEUTC) and the states of Rhode Island, Vermont, Maine, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Massachusetts through the New England Transportation Consortium.
CTI is looking for two full stack developers to lead and develop enterprise software for transportation systems in the state of Connecticut. This position will work closely with the Connecticut Department of Transportation to develop applications to query, visualize and analyze transportation related assets.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Confers with Program Director to resolve questions of program and project intent; output requirements; input data acquisition; extent of automatic programming and coding use and modification; and, inclusion of internal checks and controls.
Contribute as a productive member of an agile development team.
Analyze, design and implement business requirements.
Design and implementation of data models.
Integrating and testing with back end services and databases.
Development and testing of software APIs.
Development and testing of user interfaces.
Profiling and optimizing system performance.
Document all programming tasks and procedures.
Perform routine software maintenance.
Performs related duties as required.
Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of related experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Evidence of ability to independently analyze and translate assigned programs into operating programs and prepare detailed program documentation.
Demonstrated ability in analytical reasoning and logical problem solving.
Experience with ASP.NET, C#., Java, Python, .NET Framework, or .NET core.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Master’s degree in Computer Programming or related field.
Experience leading a team of developers to build an enterprise application.
Experience with Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) integration and development.
Experience with MapServer for Windows (MS4W) and/or GeoMOOSE.
These are full-time, 12-month positions based on available funding and subject to annual renewal. Salary will be commensurate with successful candidate's background and experience.
