We're looking for someone who can: – Design and execute aspects of geospatial based research projects including delivery plans, dates and work execution and delivery Performing data discovery–finding and testing new data sources Performing data cleansing and preparation; working with structured and unstructured data Managing and executing projects leveraging the developed technologies, curated data sets and team of data analysts Conducting analysis techniques not limited to imagery analysis, buffer analysis, propagation modeling, network optimization / graph analytics, cluster analysis, spatial statistics, hydrological, suitability modeling and general statistical analysis Working with geospatial based data, including though not limited to business rooftop and/or point of interest data, satellite imagery, pictometry and other aerial-based data, spatial files (both vector and raster based and others), climate data, hydrological data, cell phone GPS data, and other web-mined data sets Development of and managing research deliverables such as written reports, interactive models, and visualizations – Research and Development including discovery and development of new data sets and techniques and working with and contributing to the development of an advanced GIS infrastructure including development of GIS based tools that can be leveraged more broadly across the geospatial and broader Evidence Lab organization – Work autonomously or with a team depending on project demands – Communicate around progress and presentation of results – Help drive toward success through client relationship management – Manage personal and team based KPIs and short-term and long-term goals

Your team UBS Research is expanding its industry-leading primary research platform called Evidence Lab. At the heart of this organization is the ability to systematically harvest, cleanse, structure and analyze primary data using cutting edge techniques and tools to answer key investment questions concerning the companies, industries and markets that UBS covers. UBS is looking for talented and experienced business analysts for the Geospatial Team. As a Geospatial Business Analyst, you will be working in the field of geospatial analysis contributing to the research product of UBS' publishing industry analysts. In this role you will be part of the UBS Evidence Lab Geospatial team, a team comprised of professionals with decades of combined experience in various fields within geospatial, financial, earth sciences, software engineering, and statistical analysis. Your core responsibility with be focused on discovery, acquisition, creation, preparation of geospatial based data sets and analyses including satellite imagery analysis, hydrological modeling, market quality analysis, network/graph analysis, climatology, local market economics, cell phone GPS data and much more. Your experience and skills You have: – Outstanding analytic and research skills and experience using enterprise analytic tools and platforms on large data sets – Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Accounting or related fields), or in social sciences (e.g. economics, psychology, sociology). Master's degree a plus. – 3-5 years of relevant work experience. Relevant experience may be in consultancy, business strategy, equity research, or at a third-party research provider. – Knowledge of the social media landscape within China and insights into how both Chinese businesses and consumers utilize social media – Knowledge of relational databases and strong experience writing SQL code to structure, query and analyse large data sets. Familiarity with other analytic programming languages (e.g., Python, R) a plus. – Experience using Excel as reporting template to deliver analysis to non-technical audiences. Knowledge of Excel VBA to aid in report automation a plus. – Some familiarity with data visualization, statistical modeling, or machine learning would be a plus. You are: – Intellectually curious with passion for discovery of new or innovative data sources and analysis techniques – Able to design a research projet and lead/delegate responsibilities – Attentive to detail with the ability to communicate ways to measure accuracy and efficiency – A strong communicator, with excellent written and spoken English; Standard Chinese (Putonghua), Japanese (kyōtsūgo), Korean, Hindi, and other Asian-based Languages
